Sorry for the really long absence. I got kind of worn out, obsessing over Mormon crap all the the time and couldn't think of anything else that seemed appropriate for this blog. Things are pretty much the same as ever around here - we go to church each week and I try to erase it from my brain during the other six days.
I did get a new visiting teacher recently who I really like. When she brought up the lesson for this month (about the eternal nature of gender and gender roles) I was able to tell her I thought it was complete crap and could barely skim the article without wanting to throw it in the trash. We also have a new Relief Society president, who has enticed me to actually stay a few times. The last one started out really well - there was really great feeling of love and sisterhood in the room, and I sat by a woman who was making really funny comments, and who I often agree with and wish I could say the things she does. But the lesson was unavoidably awful - it was love letters from Joseph Smith to Emma, and each one made me want to gag. OK, enough bitching about church for today.
I've got lots of fun stuff coming up - a trip to NY, the Vegas 1/2 marathon, a visit from my little sister and a five day stay in the Dominican Republic in January. I'll try to be better about updating and blogging about stuff I'm interested in, instead of just avoiding my blog because I don't want to beat my head against the wall that is church.
